Mark for Model Number MAV408DAWW I have received the lower bearing, part AP4008541, for my MAV408DAWW Maytag washer. This is after changing out the thrust bearing kit and not solving the problem. I've now tore down the washer and find that this lower bearing is press fit on the transmission shaft. Is there a procedure that a home owner can follow to remove this bearing? I've wracked at it and busted the plastic housing already. The only thing I'm thinking is that I would have to find a machine shop with a press, but I don't know how they would be able to work around the transmission housing.
Answer Hello Mark. You need to remove the transmission from the outer tub to install the bearing. It installs from the bottom of the tub, not on the inside. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, September 17, 2012
