Pam for Model Number SDE4606AYW I have removed the light bulb from the plastic housing, so that I can replace it. The plastic housing has a small pea size bubble created by melting near the light bulb and it is obvious the whole plastic cover has been melted a bit. Should I even try to replace the light bulb, for fear it will melt again? It may be the door switch that isn't turning the light bulb off when the door is closed? Any thoughts? We have already replaced the motor and I'm about to order the Variable Temp switch; which is also not working--only one click at the far left; but I can manipulate the knob and get it to dry at the hottest temp. by counting the clicks; so I think it is worth replacing. Hopefully I don't need the knob too.
Answer Pam, It may be that the door may have been left cracked open and caused the issue with the melting. If the light does not go off it would indicate that the door is still open and the unit would not run at this point. You would just want to replace the light. Read More...
