Cletus Whirlpool model WTW4800XQ0 Loud gear grinding sound when it tries to stop spinning after rinse cycle, very prolonged, sounds like the splutch. When this fails, "lid locked" flashes repeatedly and the machine will not work until it has been unplugged/replugged several times. Will a bad splutch cause the flashing lid lock light? Examined the splutch, it has some wear but not heavily worn. After unplugging/replugging several times, the machine will go through several washes with no problem, then it happens again.
