Vic for Model Number WTW5810BW0 My Whirlpool Cabrio washer does not agitate. When in the automatic test mode in the wash cycle the machine makes a loud clicking noise as the agitator and basket both rotate 1/4 rotation back and forth. The agitator does not move independently. In spin cycle the machine appears to operate fine. I inspected the drive hub and it appears to be good. The shift actuator was replaced several months ago.
Answer Vic, the shift actuator would need to be tested for voltage being applied from the main control using the wires found at connection J16 from pin 1 to pin 2. With the appliance set to a manual test mode, the spin mode can be briefly started, stopped, then agitation can be set and the wires tested for 120VAC. If the control does not send 120VAC, the control W10581550 has failed. If voltage is sent, but the shifter does not activate properly, the shift actuator WPW10006355 would need to be replaced.
