The Closing Cam is an OEM component used in Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerators. It is the mechanism located on the inner refrigerator door that utilizes a rotating cam configuration to gently pull the door closed. 

Causes of a damaged closing cam can include stresses from opening and closing the door many times over the years. The constant motion wears down parts through normal use.

Symptoms of a faulty cam include:

• Door not latching securely in the closed position  
• Loud slamming sound instead of a soft pull to close 
• Cracks, fractures or a wobbly cam shaft
