Mike for Model Number ED5VHEXVQ04

My side by side 3 year old refer. has been getting ice build up every 2 weeks and I have to defrost the frezzer to get ice build up off fan so it works, the fan to work. lately the refer side is not getting very cold. If fact seems like warm air is blowing in. I unpluged and defrosted the entire unit for 3 days. All ice gone. Pluged back in, Frezzer works fine,(Im sure ice will build up again) but refer side is just not old like it should be? Paid a guy to come out and look and he seemed like an idiot. but said the defroster timer is bad? Can find that part. What say you. Just not making sense Mike

Answer

Mike, Normally when getting excessive frost build up on the evaporator will be considered a defrost issue. To eliminate components you would want to test the defrost heater for continuity. If there is continuity it is good. Test the defrost bimetal for continuity and if there is continuity then it is good. This would leave the defrost control board as the issue with the unit. The part number for the defrost control board is part number WPW10366605 and is located in the control box of the refrigerator section.
