Rodney for Model Number GD5PHAXMS10

One other thing about this problem is that you can turn the frig. off and on and it will start cycling again. DOES THIS MEAN ITS STILL THE CONTROL BOARD? THANK YOU, RODNEY response from earlier question: I have a whirlpool refrigerator that goes into defrost cycle and then will not restart the compressor after that. is this usually the control board or is there a defrost timer on this model? Do you have the electrical schematic for this frig.? thanks, Rodney Rodney for Model Number GD5PHAXMS10 ANSWER Hello Rodney, the cooling/defrost cycle is controlled by the Defrost Contol Board, WPW10366605 from your description of the symptom the relay on the board is faulty.

Answer

Hello Rodney, there is also a cold control thermostat WP2198202 that controls overall operation. To test if its the thermostat or the defrost board, the next time it stalls in defrost, unplug the ref from the outlet for a few seconds then back in, if it restarts its the defrost board, if it does not restart, turn the thermostat knob off/on and it restarts then its the cold control thermostat.
