Andrew for Model Number ED2NHEXN00 I have a Whirlpool side by side model that cycles between having a moderately cold freezer compartment (capable of producing ice) and a not-so-cold refrigerator side. This condition persists even with the refrigerator indicator knob at its COLDEST dial setting. On some occasions the ice within the bin begins to thaw. At this point I disconnect the unit for a period of time and then reconnect it. This seems to do the trick until the thawing condition reappears. Where should I begin my diagnosis. I have basic tech skills. Thanks.
Answer Andrew, You will want to check to see if the fans in the unit are running when the unit appears to be thawing. This issue sounds like the unit is getting stuck in a defrost cycle. This would happen about every 10 -12 hours that you would notice the temp rising. If this is the case then the defrost control board would need to be replaced, part number WPW10366605. Read More...
