Ray for Model Number MZD2768 gew Hello I have a Maytag side by side freezer/frige and the freezer coils are iced up. I have read the previous posts on what it could be but I was inquiring on how to check the heating element and the thermostat to see if they are working properly. Thanks.
Answer Hello Ray, you will need a Multi Meter: TJMA-DMT3 to test both components. The defrost thermostat when it's cold should give you a closed reading. When you go across both wires of the heating element you should get a resistance reading. If both of these are correct, you could have a defective defrost control 61005988. Hope this helps!
