Chris for Model Number Maytag range MGR4452BDW Same question as many. Burners operate fine, oven will not fire. Ran continuity on the igniter & got about 34 ohms. There is a small "square" assembly that looks like a gas valve. (One of the igniter wires runs to it thru a 2 wire connector. There is 120VAC present on the valve - if it is, in fact, a valve. Thanks in advance.
Answer Chris, is this the "valve " you're discussing WP74009891 ? You should have 120 VAC to the terminals in a non cook mode. if you check resistance across the two terminals, you should have a "closed" circuit. When you program a bake mode and the igniter is glowing, the circuit should draw 3.2 to 3.6 amps, or have 3.2 to 3.6 VAC across the bake valve terminals, if all checks OK on your meter, the valve would be defective. If the amperage or voltage is low, you have a weak igniter. Thanks and Good Luck Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, October 25, 2011
