Will H. for Model Number cwg3100aae I recently installed a temperature sensor I received from you which was a fairly simple task. During the process the oven bottom slipped out of hand and I believe came in contact with the igniter. After re-assembly the the problem I was having(error message f-2 or f-5 after reaching 395 degrees) appeared to be resolved as the oven reached 450 degrees with no problem. @ days later the oven would not heat up. I noticed that the igniter did not glow at all. Is it possible that I did damage the igniter even though the oven operated after reassembly? Other than voltage tests, is there any way to determine if the igniter is bad? Would I smell gas or would the safety valve prevent that? Thanks
Answer Hello Will. The best way to test is with a voltage check. If there is 120 volts to the igniter, and it does not glow, you will replace the igniter 12400035. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
