The Door Gasket is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. This gasket is essential for maintaining the efficiency and safety of your dishwasher, ensuring that water is contained within the unit to avoid kitchen floods and water damage.

Causes of deterioration can include regular wear and tear from opening and closing the dishwasher door, exposure to harsh detergents and high temperatures, and physical damage from loading and unloading dishes.

Symptoms of a bad Door Gasket include:

  • Visible leaks or puddles of water around the dishwasher after use.
  • The gasket is cracked, stiff, or has pieces missing.
  • The door doesn't close as smoothly or as tightly as it used to.
  • Mold or mildew buildup on the gasket due to moisture retention.

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Answer

Laurie, No, the new door gasket WP9743590 will not arrive with an instruction sheet. But It's not that hard or difficult repair. You may want to have a teaspoon or flat blade screwdriver handy, to press in and seat the gasket into the retainer groove around the opening. First thing is to make a mental picture of the gasket and how it is routed from one side of the tub to the other, Grasp the end of the gasket in the corner of the opening and pull it out, until it's all dismounted from the tub. Insert the gasket at one end of the opening, and press it into the groove,Do not overstretch the gasket, Once you have the gasket partially seated and properly routed, use the teaspoon/ screwdriver to properly seat and "lock" the gasket into the groove. Thanks
