Andy for Model Number KFCS22EVMS4 I have KitchenAid bottom freezer that has started to slowly ice up. I can see ice on the coils. I changed the temperature to +6 but the freezer continues to be cold. Could this be the thermistor, thermostat or the heater? On another note Brent helped me find the thermistor and thermostat parts (part of the wring harness apparently) but these are not listed on the KFCS22EVMS4 pages. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-harns-wire-w10119821-ap4365038.html (Thermistor) and http://www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-harns-wire-w10292244-ap4539729.html (Thermostat) but thermostat says its not compatible. Any further thoughts to the exact parts I need. DO I really need the whole harness for each part?
Answer Hello Andy. WPW10120827 is the defrost timer board W10825088 is the heater and WPW10165425 is the thermostat. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
