By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM17946882
Manufacturer Part Number: W10754299

This magnetron is the microwave's high-voltage tube that generates the microwaves responsible for heating food. Use it as a direct replacement when your microwave powers on but no longer heats properly. What it does:

  • Generates the microwave energy that heats and cooks food inside the oven cavity.
  • A failing magnetron commonly causes the oven to run but not heat; other signs can include weak or uneven heating.
  • Can produce unusual humming, arcing or sparking inside the cavity, or a burning smell when failing.
  • Works as part of the high-voltage circuit; other components affect overall function.
What's included: One magnetron. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and unplug the appliance before servicing; the high-voltage capacitor must be safely discharged.
  • Handle the magnetron carefully by the mounting flange—avoid touching the ceramic antenna or terminals.
  • Verify exact part number compatibility with your model before ordering; some repairs require replacing other high-voltage components.

Hello Ted. The model number you provided is not working. It sounds like you may need to replace the magnetron and the diode. Look for cracks and burnt spots in the magnets and the tip of the magnetron. The diode should only read on a meter in one direction. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
