J.J. for Model Number 1983 vintage whirlpool washer Is there an alternative transmission fluid I can buy at my local auto parts to add to or replace the transmission fluid in my washer? Problem with washer not spinning fast enough.
Answer Hello J.J., I'm sorry but the transmission fluid will not affect spin speed. The spin speed is normally affected by the brake not fully releasing or the clutch slipping. There is also an occasional issue with the drive block and spanner nut that can sometimes affect the spin basket. Changing the transmission fluid will not change the issue at all.
