Hello Bruce, This could be the lid switch, the timer, or any other component in the control panel including the harness. You will have to open it up to see what wiring has burned or discolored and trace that circuit to locate the issue. If you look at the top edge of the control panel, you will see 4 screws. Unplug the unit and remove the two screws towards the center and the control panel will roll forward. This will get you inside the control panel for troubleshooting. The wiring diagram should be in this area also. If you see no issues, there is the possibility of an issue in the bottom of the unit. To access the lower part, remove the two screws near the bottom of the front panel and "roll" it up and out from the machine. The two spring clips at the top will un-hook when the main front is rotated far enough out and up.
