Diywannabe for Model Number GTDP301EL1WS My 3.5 yearly old GE Signal dyer would not start. The timer seemed to not be functioning and all fuses tested ok, so I ordered a new timer and replaced it. After installing timer, I noticed that when turning the dial, the "off" stopping points when the dial came to rest we're out of place with the timer areas marked off. I pressed start and the dryer started but I could not stop the dryer by turning the timer to any of the off positions. The timer seems to run but not stop at stopping points. Also, I can hear this timer running and I could not hear the previous timer when it was functioning. Any suggestions on the next steps?
Answer DiyWannabe, You will want to check the resistor that is on the timer which should have a 4.5K ohm resistance reading. If this check ok then it sounds like you have either gotten a bad timer . The correct timer part number for your unit is WE4M533. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Friday, March 20, 2015
