By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM18091734
Manufacturer Part Number: W10880720

This tub ring mounts to the top of the washer's outer tub to act as a splash guard and cover. Replacing a cracked or loose ring helps contain wash water and helps prevent leaks or debris from the top. What it does:

  • Forms the upper splash guard around the outer tub to keep water contained during wash and spin
  • Serves as the top cover at the tub opening, locking in with tabs/clips
  • Damage (cracks, broken tabs) may lead to leaks from the top, rattling, or a loose ring
  • Visible wear can leave plastic fragments in the basket or around the tub opening
What's included:
  • 1 tub ring
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and turn off water supplies before servicing
  • Lift or remove the top/console per model design to access the tub opening; support the lid
  • Release the locking tabs/clips and remove the old ring; clean the tub lip
  • Align and press the new ring evenly until all tabs fully engage; reassemble and test

Answer

Hello John. You will need to disconnect the power to the unit. Then unsnap the end caps on the sides of the control panel. Then remove the screws under the end caps and flip the control panel backward. Unplug the wires to the lid switch and remove the two brass colored clips. The cabinet of the machine will pull forward and slide off the machine. Now you can access the tub ring W10880720. There are clips on the bottom of the tub ring. You will release these clips and lift the tub ring off. Reinstall with new tub ring in reverse order. Hope this helps.
