Kelli for Model Number CG31200ADV

This is an old gas oven, and from what I gather, until now, had never been cleaned b4. I used Easy-Off, but what worries me, is that there is a section in the back part of the oven that looks like sponge that has partially dissolved apart. Is it still okay to use the oven, or do I need to replace this sponge type object which is in the very back? In addition, the oven works great, but know that I cleaned it, I'm nervous about turning it on, as I may have down something since it is gas....and I wasn't sure were to turn the gas off at! HELP?????

Answer

Kelli, The gas would not have been affected by the cleaning of the oven. The only way that anything functional would have any issue is if you were to pull the burner out and try to clean it and did not get the ports cleaned out. As for the spongy material it is not something that would have to be replaced.
