By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM18046467
Manufacturer Part Number: WPW10131825

The Oven Temperature Sensor is an OEM part for Whirlpool ovens. This component is responsible for monitoring the oven's internal temperature, sending data to the control board to maintain the desired cooking temperature. It ensures accurate temperature readings, which are essential for baking, roasting, and other cooking functions.

Causes of a bad Oven Temperature Sensor include prolonged exposure to high temperatures, which can degrade its responsiveness over time. Additionally, physical damage or wear and tear can lead to inaccurate temperature readings.

Symptoms of a bad Oven Temperature Sensor include:

  • The oven temperature is inconsistent with the setting.
  • Food is not cooking evenly or as expected.
  • The oven fails to reach the set temperature, or it overshoots it significantly.
  • Error codes related to temperature regulation appear on the oven's display.

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Rafael for Model Number Gw395lep03

Oven will not start. I checked the spark electrode there's no spark, neither a clicking. I checked for academic at spark electrode I get 20 VAC. My question is does spark control module send AC-DC or DC? Have not checked control board to check out put Current. Also I get a F3 code. I ohm checked the heat sensor at room temperature is about 800 I believe is low resistance. Should I go ahead and replace the heat sensor? Or check the control board or may be spark control module.

Answer

Hello Rafael, I'm sorry but this is only half of the error code as per the units' tech sheet. There are four failures under the F3 heading which are as follows: (1). E0 - Oven sensor open (2). E1 - Oven sensor shorted (3). E2 - Bake/Broil over temperature (4). E3 - Clean-range over temperature The manufacturer recommends the following procedure as a result from these codes: 1. Unplug range or disconnect power. 2. Disconnect sensor from harness. 3. Measure sensor value (between connector pins) between 1000O @ 0° C (32° F) and 2697O @ 482° C (900° F), (room temperature approx. = 1080O). Also measure from sensor connector to sensor casing for possible short. If measurements do not correlate to real temperature, or if short is found, replace sensor. 4. Trace the wires and connectors to the sensor from control, and back to control. If wire or connection is damaged, replace the harness. 5. Reconnect the sensor to the harness. 6. Plug in range or reconnect power. 7. Press BAKE and START/ENTER. Observe for longer than 1 minute. If failure remains, go to step 8. 8. Unplug range or disconnect power. 9. Replace control.
