Manufacturer Part Number: WPW10131825

The Oven Temperature Sensor is an OEM part for Whirlpool ovens. This component is responsible for monitoring the oven's internal temperature, sending data to the control board to maintain the desired cooking temperature. It ensures accurate temperature readings, which are essential for baking, roasting, and other cooking functions.

Causes of a bad Oven Temperature Sensor include prolonged exposure to high temperatures, which can degrade its responsiveness over time. Additionally, physical damage or wear and tear can lead to inaccurate temperature readings.

Symptoms of a bad Oven Temperature Sensor include:

  • The oven temperature is inconsistent with the setting.
  • Food is not cooking evenly or as expected.
  • The oven fails to reach the set temperature, or it overshoots it significantly.
  • Error codes related to temperature regulation appear on the oven's display.

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Answer

Peter, the error F02 is going to indicate that a relay on the oven control for that side has welded shut and causing the unit to overheat. This can be verified by unplugging the power cord and accessing the connections P4 and P5 of the oven control. With a meter set to measure continuity, measure from pin 1 on P4 to pin 1 on P5. If there is continuity, the control has failed. If there is not continuity, move the probe from pin1 on P5 to pin 3, then pin 4. If there is continuity at any of these points when testing, the control has failed. Unfortunately, the left WP8301583 and the right WP8301182 oven controls have been discontinued by the manufacturer and are no longer available.
