William M for Model Number GI5FVAXVL00 My Whirlpool refrigerator runs too cold in the fresh food compartment. It was suggested that I replace the thermostat which I did but it still runs too cold. Even if I set Freezer temp to max (6deg) and refrigerator to max (46 deg) food still freezes. The last search I did suggested the thermistor (12002355). Where is it located on my model and will this fix the problem? Thanks
Answer William, You will want to check the damper to make sure that it is operating. You can test this by turning the controls down to where it goes to off. If the damper door does not close at this point then replace the damper. If the damper checks ok then remove the light cover and using a flat blade screwdriver, there are 2 slots at the back of the controls. Put the screw driver in and push the clip that holds the control in place. Once done then you can lower the controls and the sensor is located in the control box. Read More...
