Lisa for Model Number KSF26C7XYY04

Freezer side stopped keeping things frozen. We cleaned all the coils, and at first thought it was the evap. fan, but the fan does work and run quietly at times. I bought a fan motor, but haven't done the replacement as I have seen it running just fine. I was looking for a defrost control board part, but can't seem to find one for this model? What keeps the evap fan running long enough to cool down the freezer? I was thinking this has to be something that is only relating to the freezer since the fridge is working perfect? Thanks for any help! Loved watching all your youtube videos!

Answer

Lisa, if the compressor is operating and there is not a frost pattern on the evaporator or a partial frost pattern, then the likely issue would be a sealed system issue. If the compressor is not operating and there is not a frost pattern, the thermistor W10316760 would need to be tested for proper operation. At 50°F, the resistance should be 5.3K Ohms, 8.8K Ohms at 32°F, and 25.9K Ohms at 4°F. If the thermistor tests within a 10% tolerance, then the main control WPW10235503 would be the most likely failure.
