Timothy B for Model Number WSF26C3EXF01

I have a Whirlpool Fridge WSF26C3EXF01. The fridge side is freezing everything solid. Temp on fridge it set to 46 degrees but put a thermometer in fridge and it shows 22 degrees. I went into diagnostics and was able to toggle the damper open and closed and it appears to be working properly. I replaced the thermistor in fridge but wasnt 100% sure it was the right one. The parts diagram shows the part # as W10316760 but its also the same part number for the freezer thermistor. I installed it anyway but the part did not look the same and the barrel diameter was larger than the original thermistor, therefore it would not snap into the cover like the original. After replacing thermistor there was no change in the fridge temp and since the damper would close in diagnostic mode, I figured it was a bad control board so I replaced it as well but still no change. I am left to wonder if that was the correct thermistor that I installed or if it could be something else. Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Answer

Timothy, You can test the thermistor to make sure that it is good and should have resistance readings of 2.7K@77'F, 7964K@36'F, 23 345K@O'F. I do not know which board you replaced but the one that you would have needed to replace would be part number W11088499. The thermistor that you installed is showing as being correct for this model for the refrigerator compartment. They made a design change and would recommend to ensure you have a good connection where you installed the thermistor.
