Elvis for Model Number LSQ8543JQO

My washing machine has always worked just fine with a few minor repairs over the years. I started a load of wash and left it overnight. When I came back the machine was overflowing and had flooded my basement. I pushed in the timer to stop the water from flowing. I checked the water level tube for obstructions and also tested the water level sensor and it appears to be working properly. Could a bad timer have caused this over flowing by not allowing the water level sensor to trigger it to move to the agitation phase. I don't know how to test the timer to see if it is working properly. Thanks in advance for any guidance you can give me.

Answer

Elvis, The timer would most likely not be the cause for the unit to overfill. This issue would more likely be caused by a faulty pressure switch. When the unit is filling the pressure switch acts like a line break. Once it gets to the desired level it will cut the connection to the water valve. You will want to replace the pressure switch for this issue.
