Eric for Model Number Whirlpool Washer Model #LSQ8543JQ0

Want to know if I need to replace the timer on my washer. Our machine does not agitate, rinse and/or spin. I did determine that the water lever switch is working since we had set it at low and switching it to medium water starting coming out. The water temperature knob is functioning as needed as well. Noticed that the timer switch was no longer making any noise as it had before. No ticking or buzzing as it normally does when it was moving along. It does not advance whatsoever. Is it very probable that I need a new switch or check its' connections?

Answer

Hello Eric, You should first check the lid switch 3949247V. You will need to use the wiring diagram to troubleshoot and see where the voltage stops. You will also need to make sure voltage is not being supplied to the motor on more than one terminal at the same time since this will quickly overheat the motor and trip out on overload.
