Jim for Model Number LAT5914AAE My appliance repair tech told me I need a new transmission and with your chat agent, I have identified the parts I need. However, after looking at some of your videos I'm wondering if instead of the transmission, it's actually the washer brake assembly that is causing the problem. The washer works fine, except for when it is agitating. The symptom is a loud metallic squealing sound. It works fine in all other operations - filling, draining, spinning, without any noise. Is it more likely the transmission or the brake assembly? Thanks
Answer Jim, it is possible that the brake assembly [WP6-2011900] could be worn out and is not holding tightly enough to operate the way it should. If this is the case, it can cause a high pitched noise like a car brake that is worn out. As your unit uses an orbital transmission, it would be more likely that the brake has worn out. Read More...
