Hello Donald, Start off by discontinuing power to the unit. Next, I would hope you have a flexible gas line so you can pull the unit out of the hole and configure it diagnally to the opening in the countertop so you can work on it right there without disconnecting the gas line. If so, you can protect the countertop with a couple of thick bath towels. If not, you will need to disconnect the gas line to pull the unit as there are screws around the outside of the units body. Be sure to turn off the gas before disconnecting the line. Of course removing the grates and burners will make the unit easier to handle. Also, I learned to remove and reinstall from underneath, as this way is much easier on your back. Once on the countertop, remove the screws around the outside, then look along the inside edges asw there are screws in there, too. Of course remove the knobs. The valve should be visible once the top is raised. Very important: DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE NEW VALVE WHEN YOU INSTALL IT. Tight is good but if you overtighten it too much you will damage the manifold and incur more cost to the repair. Assembly is of course in reverse order.
