Bill B for Model Number GMC305PDS6 This is a microwave/oven combo. The microwave just started showing the following symptoms: when I start the microwave lights come on etc., however it does NOT warm up or heat food, plus there is a kind of burning rubber/plastic smell. I am thinking it could be the thermostat and/or cooling fan motor type of thing. Any comments, suggestions?
Answer Hello Bill. You will need to check the magnetron, diode, and HV transformer in the unit. The diode should only read in one direction. The magnetron, less than 1 ohm and no cracked magnets. If both are good, then the transformer is bad. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
