Hello Jerry, The pump has leaked a bit and the motor shaft has rusted. This swells the shaft and makes it hard to remove. You will probably have to break the pump carefully from the motor so you don't damage the motor. When you get it off, use sandpaper to make the shaft easy to slide into the new pump assembly. Before installing the new pump onto the motor shaft, apply grease or petroleum jelly to the mootr shaft to prevent the issue from occurring again.
