Margaret for Model Number Whirlpool Model LA5580XTWO I discovered today that water flows out the drain as the washer is filling. The flow of water out the drain stops when the machine stops filling.
Answer Margaret, Sounds like a "syphonning" problem. Check and make sure the top of the drain pipe is at least 38 inches high from the floor. Make sure the end of the drain hose is not stuffed too far down inside the pipe, or taped and sealed to the drain pipe. I'm sure you'll find your problem in one of these areas. Thanks and Good Luck.
