Bob, the fill valve is a very good place to start, if there are no extenuating circumstances. The best way would be to check for 120 VAC to the fill valve solenoid(s) once you remove the cabinet and bypass the lid switch harness. If you have the voltage, you have a bad fill valve, if no voltage you have a bad water temp switch,WPW10168256 or timer, WP3951603 or a loose wire connection, but these are the less likely posibilities.
