Travis I have a Kenmore 300 washer that gets occasionally gets stuck in various points in its cycle. Either at the wash or rinse stage the washer will get stuck and pour water endlessly and never fill up the tub. There is no issue with the water overflowing since the water simply goes in and goes straight out again.
Answer Hello Travis, This is called siphoning. You need to make sure the standpipe is higher than the main top of the unit and is not sealed with tape or anything. This will cause the water going down the drain to pull the water the unit is filling with down the drain also, (siphoning). If the top of the standpipe has been sealed because the machine is draining faster than the water can go down the drain and is overflowing from the top of the standpipe, you will need a plumber to solve the issue since sealing the top of the standpipe creates the new problem. In other words, the standpipe should be able to drain the water as fast as the machine can pump it out. If it cannot, there is a restriction in the drain. Read More...
