Description

This is a replacement fuel solenoid for Briggs & Stratton engines on some Toro lawn mower models. The fuel solenoid, also called a fuel shut-off solenoid, is responsible for stopping the flow of fuel through the line to the engine after it has been turned off. This prevents unspent fuel from collecting and causing backfiring when the mower is restarted. The fuel solenoid is an electromechanical component that is subject to wear and tear over time and through normal use. Eventually, the mechanical actuator will wear out, and the solenoid will need to be replaced. The solenoid can also suffer from electrical failure. Physical damage to the solenoid is unlikely, though. To replace the solenoid, make sure the engine is off. Locate the solenoid on the engine, and use pliers to crimp the fuel line and prevent spilling. Unscrew the old solenoid and remove the wiring harness. Install the new solenoid, reconnect the wiring harness, and uncrimp the fuel line. This is a genuine OEM replacement solenoid and is sold individually. It is compatible with over 150 different Toro lawn mowers and lawn tractors.
