How to Troubleshoot & Replace Bosch AP2822829 / 00361127 Door Seal

First checked pump and connections to tub, they were OK, front gasket only other option left. Removed 2 rear screws on washer top and slid back a bit. Unscrewed 4 control panel fastners, need TORX drivers !, and tied up out of way. Lower panel already removed, pops out from left side facing machine, 1 screw in ,middle and then slides a bit right to disengage right side tabs, DONT PRY ON RIGHT SIDE. Removed outer spring band and removed gasket from outer panel by rolling out of flange. Removed 4 screws at bottom of front panel and then disengaged plastic snaps on bottom of panel. Panel then needs to be slid down a bit to disengage top tabs. Removed door, inner spring band and removed gasket. Replaced gasket maintaining drain on bottom and connected air vent on top of gasket. Reversed strip down steps. found tear in top of gasket after 9 years of service. Good Luck !! 

Took the washer apart, top and front panels, also took off the front counterweight. Removed the damaged seal, saving both springs and wire retainers. See http://www.fixya.com/support/t296594-get_seal_back_inside_drum, for instructions. Installed the new seal first on the drum side, with its tricky-to-install, but manageable spring retainer. Connecting the seal to the front panel was much more challenging. My final solution for the retainer : I used an old caliper, opened it about 2½ inches, froze it in place with its set screw, extended the retainer's tension spring and hooked its end loops to the caliper's pointy feelers. The resulting increased retainer diameter allowed me to drop it fairly easily into the seal's outer rubber groove, and then simply slipped it off the caliper when in place.

So I tried the master way. I used a wet towel to hold the spring that goes around the drum. I also used pieces of wooden to anchor the towel and spring temporarily as I stretched the spring around the drum. I used talcum powder to ease the installation. Put a marked the bottom end of the gasket with a permanent marker also on the bottom of the door opening. Used the markers for lining up. Folded the gasket in like in the video put the spring around the drum (this was the most difficult part), using wet towel and sticks to hold the spring as you stretch helps. Then redistribute the tension around the spring (talcum powder helps). Unfold the gasket install the door back and add the ring around the door. 

Replaced door gasket. 

Replaced the seal with a new one from Appliance Parts Pros it works and was easy to do
