How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP5952230 / 242074223 Dispenser Assembly

My water dispenser would keep going after I filled my glass & I had to jiggle it to stop, and sometimes that took too long & water went everywhere. Problem is, my refrigerator is a Frigidaire Gallery model FGUS2642LF1, also ending in LF0 or LF2, a side-by-side model from 2011. Unlike most all other Frigidaire models, this one doesn't have the removable bottom dish --- you have to pry off the ring trim that runs around the whole dispensing section, and it's not easy to do; in fact, I busted one of the tabs doing it, but it still reconnected after I was done as it has a lot of tabs. I couldn't find a video that had my fridge on it, but I found one that had the same method where you had to remove the ring trim and I was pretty sure that's what I had to do anyway. Once I got into it, it was the same method as all the others except that I had to take off the bottom portion to get the old actuator out, but everything is held on with screws from that point. I swapped it out in about 10 minutes altogether. 

First, I read all of the posting on your site. Then via simple testing, I found my problem was not with the auger motor, but with the dispenser module. The flapper door was opening and then closing immediately, so I test the motor operation by holding the flapper door open, depressing the door open/light switch, and then had an assistant press the ice dispenser...and the motor ran and dispensed ice. Now I knew my problem was in the module. I replaced the module with only a Phillips screw driver. Works great now. 

Replaced the module as recommended in another similar post and problem fixed. 

Replaced the dispenser module. 

I ordered a new dispenser control . It took about 20 minuter to install and the problem was solved. It was easy to install and worked perfectly. Thanks 

Replaced the Dispenser Module and problem was solved. Hardest part was removing the snap-on trim on the front of the unit. 

U could not order just the plastic leaver so had to order the whole unit. 

Removing the face plate on my Frigidaire FGUS2642lf2 refrigerator was the most difficult part! Youtube has many videos on how to change this part. It was very easy to do. 

Installed the new part in about an hour. The part was no problem. Six screws, 3 electrical plugs and one water line. If you can charge a cell phone you can change this part. The cover that has to be removed to get to the part is another story. It's plastic and it's very easy to break or scratch the finish on the door when removing this part. My solution was to use a tongue depressor to slip in between the plastic and door and slowly pry the piece off. When you reinstall the switch assembly don't tighten the mounting screws too tightly. If you do the cover tabs won't fit back between the plastic insert and the metal on the door. If you take your time the cover will come off and go back without damage. 

Replaced the dispenser assembly (module) part # 242074211 (replaced by 242074223). An appliance repair guy who looked at the fridge three weeks ago had said it was the control panel/board. That was not the problem. It was definitely the dispenser assembly with the switches, etc. The water and ice stop immediately.
