James P Burke , VA October 29, 2017 Burners would not ignite and finish of drip bowls was deteriorated. Ordered the correct size drip bowls (All drip bowls have the same outside diameter but different (small, medium or large) inside hole diameters.) Removed 5 knobs by pulling straight up. Removed grate, burner cover, and burner from each of the five burners. Unscrewed two hold down screws from center of each drip bowl. Lifted each drip bowl, pulled wire off the igniter, pushed U-shaped clip off igniter and pulled igniter up thru top of drip bowl, pushed igniter down thru top of new bowl, pushed clip onto igniter. Before replacing the bowls and knobs, lift the glass top off the cooktop. Hold new spark module beside old module and pull off one wire at a time from the old module and press it onto the same terminal of the new module. Use a small socket to remove each screw holding down each end of the old module and screw in the new module. Replace the glass top, press each wire onto each igniter and place each bowl in its glass top hole. Press the glass top sideways to allow all the bowls to fall into place. Insert all the screws loosely into the bowls and slide the glass top again to center bowls. Tighten all screws and replace all knobs, burners, burner covers and grates. Sean S Stow , OH March 27, 2018 Discolored and stained burner bowls The new burner bowls for my GE cook top were easy to put in by removing the two screws, the clips holding in the igniter, and disconnecting the igniter from the wire (it pulls off and then can be pushed back into the connector on the wire); then, I reassembled. The only tricky bit was the silicone gaskets that there is no replacement for since I had to use the old ones, which were not in good shape. The repair was easy and took about 15 minutes for two bowls. Read More... 1 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
