How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2071753 / WR60X114 Evaporator Fan Blade

Ordered a new one. 

Called repairman and waited for two weeks for him repair. I ordered the part from appliance parts pros and received in six days. Fixed it myself. 

R & R fan blade by sliding old blade off and new blade on. Ruined old blade with getting too hot thawing freezer. Also replace defrost heater which was problem in the first place . Works fine Great place to quickly get parts! 

Took front panel off in freezer compartment, replaced the parts and old Bessie still humming. Love a problem that can be fixed. 

Removed and replaced the fan. Putting the clamp on was rather challenging. 

I found that the shipping to Honolulu took many days. I am glad that I have the parts on hand, and I may decide to replace them when I have an appropriate time frame. I had helped a neighbor with a Whirlpool refrigerator which was not cooling. We found the evaporator fan was not turning at all. After replacing the evaporator fan motor and reinserting the fan blade, the cooling returned as advertised. She was very happy not to have to buy another refrigerator. We cleaned everything of dust and checked other connections so we took our time before completion. 

Put new fan blade on. 

Replaced the evaporator fan motor, fan blade, and two rubber grommets. I was careful to mark screws and bolts with sticky notes to ensure getting them back in the right place. I had all the new parts ready before I started the job because I did not have an extra freezer for my food and I wanted to do this quickly and only once. New parts went in well, Took a while to install the ring for the new fan blade using my long nose pliers. I would have saved time if I had the special ring spreader tool. Note: Covered the freezer coils with newspaper to keep the small mounting screws from falling behind there. I believe in Murphy's Law. The new fan is NOT real quiet but is much quieter than it was and solves the problem. (I am 79, have always been a fix-it guy but never tried fixing a refrigerator before.) 

Remove and replace motor and fan. As expected problem solved. 

Found fan blade had come off the evaporator motor. Entered original fan blade part number and it crossed over to this one. Amazon had it but would have taken 3-5 days. Part here was around $10 and shipped same day and arrived the next for another $10. Freezer back up and running in no time.
