Santiago A Chestnut Hill , MA September 18, 2020 Appliance: General Electric Dishwasher GLD6904R10WW Dishwasher did not start. I went to your web page, saw few videos, read about the most common cause for the dishwasher not to start, I spent 25 dollars in parts and 22 dollars to rush my order because I had the dishwasher full of dirty plates and cookware. I asked for the parts about 12:30 am on Monday and the parts were delivered to me by noon Tuesday . I cut the electricity to the machine, opened the dishwasher as shown in one of the videos (although It was not exactly the same model), changed the parts, connected the electricity back an turned the dishwasher on and let it do my dishes. I calculate that I saved about $150 because I did not call a technician and saved about 3 or 4 days of waiting time for the technician to arrive. I am very happy and my wife happier. By the way, I am a lawyer with no knowledge of mechanical or electrical repairs. Melissa O Minneapolis , MN September 02, 2018 Would not start, buttons did not illuminate Replaced actuator plunger and interlock switch. A little difficult to pry off connections to interlock switch due to wear from chronic moisture, but once off, re-install simple and the dishwasher was functioning in 10 min. Definitely recommend trying it yourself before calling a service repair person. I removed the screws to separate the inner and outer door parts, removed the switch cover, replaced the plunger and spring, then reassembled. It took 5 minutes and solved the problem. The issue was that the dishwasher didn’t think the door was shut because the plunger wasn’t activating the switch properly. Read More...
