How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2040216 / WD28X265 Silverware Basket With Handle

Silverware tray was broken, silverware would fall through the bottom and get stuck around the washer. And get stuck when we would pull the door open and try to unload the silverware. So I purchased a silverware tray replacement rack from here and it fits in there perfectly. Thank you so much for the parts! Also, shipping was really fast so we were able to fix this within a week. Wish we hadn’t waited over a year to buy the parts! 

Replaced the flatware basket. 

The new replacement was perfect. Nice. 

The replacement basket fits the GE model we have perfectly. The instructions on finding the model number on the dishwasher were very helpful so I could make sure the new basket would fit. 

Very easy for putting in. Just followed video which was great instructions Very well laid out 

Put in the new one. 

My GE dishwasher lower rack needed replacement because of rust; but, the original part was discontinued. The replacement part has a different layout and the original silverware tray wouldn't fit. I discussed this with the AppliancePartsPro representative on the phone and she found the correct silverware tray for the new rack. Which I ordered. The part arrived quickly and we just put it into the dishwasher. No tools needed. 

Added the basket to the bottom rack like the direction showed.. 

My dishwasher is now 8 years old and starting to show it. So, when the upper and lower trays began crumbling, I searched APP and found just what I was looking for. The dishwater now looks new! 

Ordered new part; however, it did not have the separate section for knives as the original one did.
