Glenn K Glen Rock , NJ April 23, 2021 Appliance: General Electric Gas Range JGBP85BEL1BB Gas stove burners would not ignite, no spark on 2 burners Watched the videos and read other peoples' stories on this website. This was very helpful in that I thought I was going to have to remove the stovetop, but learned I could do the repair from the top using just a putty knife. I ordered the igniters which came on the day estimated. I have a few putty knives of different thicknesses. One was too thick and would not fit under the igniter. Another was too thin and did not give me the leverage or whatever to pry the igniter out. Last try proved to be the Goldilocks and with some gentle prying removed the old igniter. The new igniters went on easily and went back into the stove with just a push. All in under 10 minutes, including turning the breaker off and on. BTW, given that these are not expensive parts, I bought a couple of extra figuring the other two would soon give out. Tools used: Though it says 'None', I did use a putty knife. The website would not let me save the story if I only checked 'Other'. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes

David S Bridgeville , DE December 22, 2020 No spark at one burner. Appliance Parts Pros had a video showing how simple the repair would be. I discovered that the wire attached to the igniter had no insulation. Using heat shrink, I insulated the wire, plugged in the new igniter and burner covers. The burner now works perfectly. Gregory B Stroudsburg , PA October 19, 2020 Right front burner had a broken igniter. I disassembled, then reassembled the range, after getting the wrong part from another supplier. I chalked it up to a 30-minute class in gas range repair, then ordered the right one here. Second time through: Unplugging the unit, I removed the burner hardware and used a slot screwdriver to pop the spring locks on the stovetop. Raising it a few inches, I disconnected the wire leading to the broken igniter, then used a pair of needle-nosed pliers to slip the metal retaining collar down off the old part, then pulled it out the top. Inserting the new part into the same hole, I slipped the retaining collar onto the new igniter and slid it up as tightly as possible. Then I connected the wire, closed the stovetop, replaced the burners, plates and racks, and plugged in the unit. A quick test showed the burner igniting as it should. Easy-peasy. Read More... Jessie R Brooklyn , NY December 16, 2019 The gas stove did not light Tested lighting the stove with a handheld igniter. I did not smell gas. Then checked the model and ordered the replacement igniters. Easy install and then tested all good. All I needed was a stiff spatula/scraper and a plier to wiggle two of the four up to slide the scraper under. Then just hold the old igniter and grasped the wire to pull apart. Then pushed the new igniter onto the ferrule on the wire. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes Tools: Pliers
