Lee B Reno , NV January 17, 2017 Igniter module needed replacement After 2 years of lighting my GE profile ng cooktop my wife finally put her foot down and said, "get this thing fixed now" or go out buy a new high end cooktop for me....Being the spendthrift I am, I quickly compared service call and parts expense to the cost of the high end cooktop and realized This was gonna be expensive either way! So, in true diy fashion I watched the videos on appliancepartspros and realized how easy of a job this actually was... $82 and 1.5 days later the problem was fixed and the old cooktop igniters working better than ever!! Would have been even cheaper, but went ahead and replaced the igniter switch harness, the ceramic igniters, and clips along with the igniter module...super easy and saved a bundle... John K Washington , DC March 11, 2017 Appliance: General Electric Gas Range JGBP86SEM1SS One burner igniter failed on 5 burner ge stove A word of caution - Due to not fully analyzing the situation upfront, I ultimately replaced more parts than necessary. So don't forget to check the spark module (the little electronic gadget that powers all the igniters), rather than jumping to the conclusion that the individual igniter or associated igniter cord is the problem (as I mistakenly did). Still, even with those additional replacements, the repair proved quick and easy thanks to the wide stock and helpful videos of APP. Plus the repair was less expensive than a single visit from a service tech would have been. Basically, I first replaced the individual burner igniter and the individual cord leading to the burner igniter. Upon realizing the problem still persisted even after those replacements, I then checked the spark module and determined it was actually the source of the problem. Replacing it resolved the problem with the burner. Each parts replacement had an accompanying video at APP, which confirmed the simple steps while emphasizing the necessary cautions of working on a stove, namely disconnecting gas and power while completing the work. Jim V Pittsburgh , PA November 16, 2014 Appliance: General Electric Gas Range JGP330BEK2BB Cooktop igniter wasn't sparking Fairly common problem with gas stoves. Our cooktop- a GE (Sears Kenmore JGP330 series) - is about 10 years old. One burner suddenly stopped sparking. Quick trip to the internet helped define the problem. And a equally quick search of ApplicancePartsPros.com website found the needed parts. Three days later they arrived as promised ... even using "standard shipping." One important lesson learned, however. I found a couple of website showing how to make the repair. All indicated that you needed to remove the burner heads in order to access the igniters. Not true ... at least on our cooktop model. They actually just pull out. Make sure you've unplugged the unit. Use a putty knife or similar flat edge to pry the igniter up and then pull it straight up and out. Remove the electrical connector; then reconnect the new sparker. Slide the new igniter back into place. Easy-peasy! Read More... 3 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes Tools: Pliers
