How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3416049 / WB06X10420 Turntable Coupler

First I read Q&A on this web site and I'm glad I did. I thought all I needed was to replace the connector between motor and table. Q&A suggested getting motor and connector to match specific model. Turned out my motor was inop but I ordered both as suggested & had all I needed to get it in top shape again. Easy repair just as video demonstration. Be prepared to clean up any grease or oil build up on the inside of the bottom cover if needed. 

Ordered part and installed it. 

I search the web and entered my appliance model number, looked for a fix and have some recommended sites to purchase the part. Appliance parts Pros has a higher ratings and showed on most of the links.ordered the part got it quicker than I thought it would take to arrive. Unscrew the bottom cover of the microwave, Disconnect the plug to the small motor for the turn table, Remove 1 motor holding screw , slightly turn motor from mounting and out. Removed the broken piece (rotator plastic) of the turntable from inside of the microwave. Installed the new part first before installing the motor, align motor with the new part from inside and install the rest in reverse order. 

I ordered the new turntable coupler on 3/8 at 6:33 PM (CST) and received the part on 3/10 at 11:000 AM. It was very easy to snap into place and my turntable now does at it named. 

On ApplianceParts website, for the problem I had, several possibilities were mentioned along with the percentage of times a specific replacement part fixed the problem. The two with the highest percentage were 1) coupler 2) motor. I ordered both since the coupler was very inexpensive. Bottom line, the motor was bad. Be careful to line up 'the key' on the coupler BEFORE pushing down to seat. I pushed down & split the new coupler. Installed the old coupler with the new motor, now it works like a champ. 

Located parts on GE website ... Then to ApplieancePartsPros.com .... ordered same exact factory parts for 40% less ..... Great service ... had parts in 2-3 days .... watched video (link on your website) made repair. Thanks for the Great Service. 

I just had to drop the new part into place. All done, works great! 

First I watched a you tube video on how to fix this on a GE microwave. I just put the new coupler over the pin in the bottom center of the microwave, lining up the flats sides. The coupler had a small nipple that kept it from going all the way in place. This is where the video was most helpful. I placed the roller ring & turntable back in the microwave even though the turntable was wobbly. Then I placed a cup of water in the microwave & started the microwave. As the turntable turned, the coupler was supposed to fall into place, but that didn't happen for me. After 3 tries I decided to put a pie plate filled with water to distribute weight more evenly on the turntable & that worked right away. The coupler fell into place & the turntable no longer wobbled! 

Replaced turntable drive coupler. Took less than 15 seconds.
