How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP4442230 / 5230W1A003C Lg Charcoal Filter

The fix was easy but finding the charcoal filters was the hard part. Thanks to AppliancePartsPros I found them. 

Very easy fix...just removed the screws holding the bottom panel of the microwave in place. Next, remove the old motor (held on by two screws), and then add back the new one, and replace all the screws. One note of advice, have a helping hand or stand handy...the bottom panel has some wiring and it is easier to hold it partially up, rather than allowing it to be set all the way on the ground. 

The Charcoal filter fit in the hole but was protruding at the bottom. Once I got on a stool I realized that there were brackets for the filter to sit on. For the Grille vent it wasn't fitting in one of the slots. I realized a broken tab was still in the hole, used a tiny screwdriver to get it out. Also, the tab with a hole in it on the left requires a Phillips head screwdriver (again something noticed once high enough) to remove the screw on top of the microwave. 

Replaced both parts. 

Read the book and replaced the charcoal filter. 

Read the microwave manual on how to change the dirty filter. 

Take a couple screws out. Remove and replace. 

Simple replacement. Part came in the next day with standard shipping.
