How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP4445613 / 5220FR2008F Washer Water Inlet Valve

Ordered cold water inlet valve, was shipped on time and received next day. Easy instructional video on site was helpful to remove top of washer, connections and old valve. New one installed in less than 30 minutes. Washer works great, no more leaking. 

Verified part was bad, removed the top of the machine, and swapped out the valve, this is the second one I have had to replace, it is an easy job with basic tools. Plenty of assistance and videos online so don't be afraid to try it yourself. 

After looking at possible repair scenarios, the most likely seemed to be the Water Inlet Valve Assemblies. Seeing that they weren't that expensive, I went ahead and replaced both the hot and cold inlet valve assemblies. The repair was a breeze and it was very easy to get to and replace the inlet valves with just a Phillips screwdriver and a pair of slip-joint pliers. My daughter was very happy and so was I. Found that water was leaking only when the cold water was on. Replaced the Water Inlet Valve Assembly. Also had evidence of water having corroded the spring at the bottom of the outer door gasket clamp, so replaced the door gasket clamp as well. Both were simple replacement repairs. The only reason it took as long as it did was working in such a small space and on a ladder/step stool (because our washer and dryer are on pedestals) and 3 of the hose clamps were rusted to the hoses (so I had a bit of cleanup to make sure the hoses and hose clamps were still okay). I was not able to find the expanding pliers I had previously purchased to get the door gasket clamp off, so I took a trick I came across on the internet using a wrench and a couple of cable ties, and that took a little longer to work out than it would have with the expanding pliers. Replaced both the cold and hot Water Inlet Valves. 

By using the information provided online by AppliancePartsPros.com. I was able to confirm that the Inlet Valve inside the machine was at fault. Since I would have it open and changing one, I went on and changed both the hot and cold valves. I would have nothing to add to the instructional video provided online, it was very intuitive. 

We replaced the Water Inlet Valve assembly.

My washing machine and dryer are stackable units so literally the most difficult part was getting the dryer disconnected and lifted off the washer.
