The vibrations and noise were getting louder with continuous use. We have fixed our washer & dryer before with the great information provided on the Appliance Parts Pros website, so we did some research to determine possible causes. We then took the washer apart and did not see any issues around the drum. After looking at the drum and spinning it by hand, we determined the issue was internal to the outer (plastic) drum. We removed the drum and confirmed that the flange shaft had in fact worn down and cracked on one of the three arms, which was causing the vibrations and noise as it began to spin.
The hardest part about removing the flange shaft was removing the motor on the back. There is a hole that you can put a screwdriver through to stop the drum from spinning as you remove the primary bolt at the center on the back. I found the hole to be too small for my main screwdrivers, so I had to use a very small one that made it hard to stop the drum from spinning while I removed it. Then the flange had a lot of soap build up around the spider bolts.
The hardest repair on this washer, but I got it done thanks to Appliance Part Pro!
