How to Troubleshoot & Replace Wci AP6987284 / 316538904 Light Bulb (40W)

I contacted AppliancePartsPros.com and used the online chat and was able to obtain the correct part. I ordered the bulb, it arrived and I put it in the refrigerator. Now the interior light is working. 

We ordered a new light socket and light bulb. 

Moved the wire holding the bulb cover, removed the bulb cover and replaced the bulb. Had to use a pliers because the old bulb broke 

I ordered parts from you. Did NOT replace the switch yet though, old one still works (20 yrs old). Took a bit of slower work to extract the socket But got it finally and installed the bulb....all good! Thanks. 

The most difficult aspect of the repair was the diagnosis. I ruled out the element and other possibilities with a multimeter. Fortunately, another reviewer shared the same symptoms as me and corrected the issue by replacing their control board. I decided to proceed with this, even though it was an expensive part. The repair wasn't too bad, ovens are remarkably simple appliances. I did have to physically remove the board from the faceplate to replace it. Other than that, it was plugging, unplugging and screws. Replaced light bulbs. 

Replaced the hinges and hinge mount brackets included in this kit. Parts diagram included screw locations, I watched 2-3 youtube videos on the replacement as well. I took the unit apart more than I needed to. But taking the opportunity to clean a lot of grease out of the insides of the door and other bits. This is likely a < 30-minute repair if you know what you're doing and just replace the hinges. My specific unit is ~15y old, but it's nicer than a base model and the stovetop works great, so $130 in parts to repair vs. $1100+ for a comparable new oven was a no-brainer. The included brackets include self-threading screws, which need some elbow grease to get started and screwed in properly; threw me a bit at. first. At first, I didn't think I'd need to replace the hinge brackets, but once I had a chance to look at the new ones vs. the old ones it became clear that there must be some kind of movement or strain on the brackets, because there was definitely wear and deformation in the old brackets. 

Quickly replaced.
