How to Troubleshoot & Replace Wci AP6987284 / 316538904 Light Bulb (40W)

Always unplug your appliance first. That can never be said enough when messing with anything electrical. This repair was extremely easy and I recommend using a 6mm socket with ratchet to get those pesky screws off. Be sure to pull the wires and connectors out about two inches or so once the element is free. Once those screws are off it's breeze to swap out the element. There's nothing to it and there's no way you can install it incorrectly. Make sure you use a pair of needle nose pliers to insure a snug connection on the connectors. From start to finish the job takes 15 minutes. 

Was very easy. Only 10-15 min job with a Phillips head screwdriver. 

I watched the video and I replaced the element. It was easy. I was happy that they told me to use the pliers. 

Pulled stove out, unplugged, took 6 screws out removing top back cover, then replaced control! Two screws held it from the front. Pulled each wire off and reconnect one at the time! Put everything back together and reinstalled stove back to its original spot! The whole process took less than 10 minutes! The part was just what I ordered and got her in record time! Looked up the codes and order the parts. It was an easy fix. 

Replaced bulb as directed by the easy-to-follow repair video. 

ORDERED A NEW ONE, UNSCREWED PROTECTIVE BOWL, THEN REPLACED BULB. 

I looked up our model number of our stove. Then I went to your web site and ordered all new Surface elements, drip pans and light bulb. When arrived, I took the old parts off and installed the new parts and works perfectly. 

With new parts I ordered. 

I went to Appliance Parts Pros.com looked up my broiler element and light (using my ovens serial number) and noticed that the bake element for my oven was extremely inexpensive so I picked this up with the other parts. The parts arrived TWO days later and with just a philips screwdriver I had the parts in in less than an hour. All around good experience and now my 12 year old oven works like new. Thank you.
