Problem was the drum on our compact Maytag wouldn't turn in spite of being able to hear the motor running. I removed the lower inspection cover from the back of the dryer and could see the belt was not in place. I found the broken belt and removed it from the drum.
I tried to source the belt from several local appliance parts stores but none had it in stock. Most told me it would take two weeks to special order one for me, which was not going to please my wife. I went online to appliancepartpros,.com, as I had done previously to order heater elements, and found the part available with 1.7 day average delivery time on standard shipping. I placed the order. The belt arrived the next day. I installed the belt the next morning and used that opportunity to vacuum out the lint one will find inside the dryer cabinet.
