How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5999271 / W10857122 Light Bulb

Replaced parts. 

Replaced the inlet valve with an appliance parts pros part, it wasn't an exact fit but with some modification I got it to work, now the ice maker is working again, thanks. 

The only problem I had was getting the bolt out the nut was spinning but with some patience it was out and replaced. 

Replaced new solenoids and thermostat replaced along with ignitor, bulb, belt,and pulley as preventative maintenance with thorough cleaning. 

The actuator pad, which depends on the ability of the rubber to return to its original shape, had lost that ability and therefore would not pull back the switch actuator. I decided to replace the switch also. The new is quite harder to depress so I had to add a light coil spring around the actuator enabling the new pad to return to return to it's position, which seemed to bind when activated. I had the spring. All in all it was a relatively easy repair. 

Turns out the noise was the blower fan had worn out and was freewheeling on the motor axle. While I had the dryer opened up, I took the opportunity to replace the parts that would likely have worn out in 20 years - bearings, drive belt, rollers. All told less than $100. 

Cleaned and lubed the two rollers the drum rolls on and replaced a 13 year old belt. I also cleaned the entire inside and resealed the hot air exhaust system to keep lint from leaking into the unit. The top on my old Amana dryer had two unmentioned screws holding the top down. Took a while to figure this out. 

I proceeded to take the dryer apart myself because I figured I had nothing to lose. The procedure ended up not being that hard to do. I replaced the drum belt while I was at it and the instructions that came with the belt were very helpful! 

Changed two rollers, belt,and replaced felt around front drum. Everything is working OK.
